More effective tools
Strengthening the role of Territorial Hunting Areas (ATCs) and equipping territories with more effective tools to address the wildlife emergency . This is the position reiterated by Cia-Agricoltori Italiani Campania during the meeting "Visions in Dialogue – The Role of ATCs: Territories, Balance, Value Chains," held in Piazza Municipio as part of the Bufala Fest. Francesco Castelluccio, Regional Head of the Technical Area and External Relations of Cia Campania, participated in the initiative. He emphasized the need to enhance ATCs not only in managing hunting activities, but above all in planning, prevention, and training activities.
Growing criticality
At the heart of the discussion is the impact of wild fauna on agricultural businesses and land security. Wild boars and, in some areas of Campania, deer pose a growing threat to agricultural production and the balance of rural ecosystems. "The wild fauna emergency can no longer be postponed and cannot be addressed with outdated regulatory instruments," stated Stefano Di Marzo, Regional Commissioner of Cia Campania. "It is necessary to address national law 157/92, which has been awaiting revision for years, and to update the 2012 Campania regional legislation. We need rules that are adequate for current conditions and a stronger role for ATCs, which must become effective planning and prevention tools."
Wildlife management
For Cia Campania, farmers must be an active part of this process. "Those who live and work daily in rural areas," adds Di Marzo, "are the primary custodians of the land, biodiversity, and habitats. Wildlife management must therefore directly involve agricultural businesses, establishing a concrete balance between environmental protection, production activities, and public safety." Cia Campania also confirms its willingness to collaborate with ATC and institutions to achieve more effective wildlife management consistent with current local needs.
