Minister's comment
"An important step forward for the fight against African swine fever", said the Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forests, Francesco Lollobrigida, commented the agreement reached today in the State-Regions Conference on the extraordinary plan for the management and containment of wildlife, as required by the Budget law on the basis of a decree adopted jointly between the Ministry of the Environment and Masaf.
Regions, farmers and hunters
An agreement has also been reached on the reconstitution of the national wildlife-hunting technical committee, made more efficient than the previous composition. "The goal is to give, more promptly and effectively, its consultative contribution in all the choices that concern this delicate sector, where the requests not only of the Regions but also of farmers and hunters intertwine", explained the minister, who then specified: "Once the guidelines within the plan have been defined, each Region will have the opportunity to implement it, thus taking concrete steps on the containment of species that are becoming prevalent over the others, causing a clear alteration of biodiversity and, above all, risks of further spread of African swine fever”.
Extension of the deadline
The State-Regions Conference also expressed the agreement on the extension of the deadline to 15 June, initially scheduled until 15 May, for the submission of applications on the basis of the new discipline of the Common Agricultural Policy, "thus meeting a strong request from the Regions and farms, which now have more time to define in the most appropriate way the requests that must be presented on the Sian system managed by Agea”, underlined Lollobrigida (source: Ministry of Agriculture).
