Hunting in Lombardy | After last year's event in Lombardy, I have repeatedly asked Councilor Rolfi and the Councilorship to respect the deadline set by the Lombardy Region of June 15 for the approval and publication of the regional hunting calendar. For a series of reasons and choices that highlight the technical-administrative shortcomings, including the strategy of arriving close to the opening with a calendar, which in some parts has not yet been completed, is proving to be deficient and unsuccessful.
Unfortunately, my concerns turned out to be well founded despite the assurances that the Councilor has given me several times. The situation is there for all to see, but the damage is being suffered by the 55 Lombard hunters who regularly paid concession fees to the State and the Region and who now look to their future with anger and concern. I, my family, relatives and friends, we are among them, we are tied to a thread and to the judgment of the TAR of Milan. Hunting is also managed and regulated by the judiciary and not by the Good Government.
Unfortunately, the TARs take the opinions expressed by ISPRA at face value, which, in addition to being of a technical-scientific nature, are concretely permeated by an irrational and ill-concealed anti-hunt thought. This episode also confirms to me that the problem of hunting is not in Europe but in Italy and in the individual regions, also for this reason I asked the Minister of Ecological Transition, Mr. Cingolani, for an urgent meeting on the subject. If necessary, we should take a cue from the example that our French hunting cousins have given us, mobilizing us.
