Presence not compatible with humans
We report below the note of the Honourable Flavio Tosi (Forza Italia), former mayor of Verona and MEP: "Culling a single wolf is of little use. The solution would be to eradicate the species, because its presence is incompatible with humans. But if eradication isn't possible, we must at least proceed with a significant number of culls, not just limited to a few individuals."
Protection of livestock
"Otherwise, as biologist Luigi Boitani, who is right on this point, told L'Arena, it would have no practical effect on the protection of livestock farms. France can be an example to follow. They cull 10 to 20 percent of wolves every year, and they did so even before the European downgrading, therefore under an exemption when the previous Habitats Directive was in force. Even more so today, when European regulations are less stringent, censuses and cullings must be carried out."
European standards
A significant number of culls would also have a deterrent effect, because wolves are intelligent animals. If they know they're in mortal danger and will be killed, they will move away from residential areas and farms. European regulations now allow for action, so the Region must take action to protect the mountains, those who live and work there, and tourism.

I don't agree with hunting wolves and bears. In my opinion, the more you kill them, the more evil they will be towards man.
It's our fault because we're clearing away the forest in the mountains and so they come down to the valley to eat. The wolf 🐺 doesn't care about anyone who abuses him, especially his cubs.
Giuio Gabaldo: Good morning, I am an elderly Veterinary Doctor from Verona (78 years old) who has been working in animal husbandry for more than 53 years. http://www.gabaldo.com Killing wolves is a pure act of revenge, without, moreover, bringing any benefit. If wolves venture near inhabited areas (usually farms), they do so only out of hunger. The problem could essentially be solved with:
1) Enclose the shelters for farm animals with fences worthy of the name (I assure you that in my long career I have seen fences that were not even capable of keeping out children! Let alone wolves)
2) Ask Fortestale or someone on its behalf to purchase some waste livestock (usually sheep) that cannot be used for slaughter (animals at a negligible cost) and release them into the woods in the presence of predators.
We respect the rules established by nature on the ethno-predatory scale.
