Excessive presence
"On the wolf, as on other faunal species, any reasoning cannot ignore the evaluations and indications of science. And it is in this context that the social and economic problems that arise from an excessive presence of a species must also be framed". They declare Stefano Vaccari and Marco Simiani, Pd group leaders in the Agriculture Commission and the Environment Commission of the Chamber.
“It's not about hunting”
“For protected species, which must remain protected, even if with different classifications in terms of protection, as in the case of the wolf, it is not a question of hunting, as one would prejudicially like to believe, nor of a favor to a phantom lobby, but of management or the possibility of targeted interventions that guarantee wildlife balance also for the protection of the wolf itself”.
Law proposal
"At the European level and at the Bern Convention, they have used these parameters, knowing that the final decision has yet to be made. This is why we insist on the fact that in Italy the real problem is not so much the 3.300 wolves registered, but the over 500 stray dogs present in the territory that become hybrids by mating with wolves, causing significant damage to biodiversity. We need to intervene on this issue with absolute speed, putting away the ideological flags that serve no one. The bill that we, as the Democratic Party, have presented to the Chamber goes in this direction and we ask that it be scheduled as soon as possible to start the discussion".
