Great participation and lively interest on Saturday 10th May at Cacia Village, where the presentation conference of the “Coordination of Wood Pigeon Italy”, with the support of Federcaccia Nazionale and ANUUMigratoristi. After the introduction by Gherardo Ambrosini, National Coordinator, the National President of Federcaccia, Massimo Buconi, took the floor and officially opened the proceedings. In his speech, Buconi strongly underlined the centrality of scientific research and collaboration between associations to preserve and protect historical forms of hunting such as wood pigeon and turtle dove: «The Wood Pigeon Coordination is a concrete example of how the hunting and scientific worlds can be united to build a sustainable, credible and shared future, protecting biodiversity and offering solid prospects to all enthusiasts of this historical form of hunting», declared Buconi.
Technical insights
Marco Castellani, National President of ANUUMigratoristi, followed, reiterating the deep synergy between the two Associations and the strategic value of a collaboration based on scientific projects. Hon. Francesco Bruzzone also brought his greetings, confirming his full support for research initiatives such as this one, underlining the difference between responsible wildlife management and control activities. The technical insights were entrusted to the Studies and Research Office of Federcaccia, with the interventions of the Technical-Scientific Coordinator Michele Sorrenti and the collaborator Simone Capriotti, who illustrated the operational methods of the monitoring in progress, offering a clear picture of the scientific and methodological aspects related to the wood pigeon species.
Operational and strategic details
Prof. Riccardo Primi, professor at the DAFNE Department of the University of Tuscia, also brought a valuable scientific contribution, highlighting the importance of cooperation between the academic world and hunting associations to ensure quality in the data collected and rigor in the analysis of migratory phenomena. The Vice National Coordinator Michele Galassi and the Secretary Terfiro Innocenti concluded the work, providing further operational and strategic details on the future objectives of the Coordination. The meeting represented an important moment of discussion and growth, marking a decisive step towards modern, transparent and data-based wildlife management.
