Wood pigeon hunting - Even if in recent years my hunting efforts have been directed mainly towards ungulates, I must say that the first love to conquer me was the migratory. Both in Calabria and in Sicily I have always undermined the wood pigeon even with excellent results, but it has always been a hunt from temporary stalking, from the ground, without the use of live calls.
I can't deny how much I would have liked to have had a wood pigeon hunting experience from the stage with the flyers. Emiliano's proposal therefore comes in this context, and for several weeks I keep this opportunity in the drawer while waiting for the right moment. "There were three days of sirocco"- Emiliano's voice snorts a bit on the phone -"but since yesterday the mistral has entered, of course, it is not the north but they are days of passage, so I would say, come up and let's see how it goes!".
In order not to risk being late, I go up from the night before: we are in Castiglione della Pescaia, a splendid stretch of coast north of Grosseto, in the heart of the Maremma, in the realm of hunting.
