Scientific studies
Last September 7th and 8th, the Parco Mediceo of Pratolino successfully hosted the second edition of the Woodcock Day, organized by FIBEC (Italian Woodcock Federation), with the patronage of the Tuscany Region among others; an event dedicated to enthusiasts and scholars of this fascinating species. Federcaccia Toscana – Tuscan Hunters Union actively participated in the event with its own stand supported primarily by the presence of the FIDC-UCT Florence management group. The Association's commitment was also aimed at actively contributing to the dissemination of scientific studies aimed at monitoring the Woodcock drawn up by the Studies and Research Office of the Italian Hunting Federation.
Scolopax Overland
In this regard, we would like to thank Alessandro Tedeschi in particular – coordinator of the SCOLOPAX OVERLAND PROJECT – for the competence and passion with which he has disseminated the results obtained from applied research, through the use of satellite telemetry, for the study of the Woodcock. Federcaccia Toscana-UCT was invited to participate in the Saturday round table discussion regarding monitoring with the pointing dog, and more generally the various types of study concerning the woodcock, carrying forward its vision of an increasingly necessary synergy between the various associations that deal with these issues.
Sustainable withdrawal
Following this two-day event, the Association is working hard to make new forms of collaboration with FIBEC (Italian Woodcock Hunters Federation) operational in order to increase research activities on the Woodcock in our region. This is to achieve an ever-increasing knowledge that allows for sustainable collection for the conservation of the species. All the collaborators and members of Federcaccia Toscana-UCT who worked at the stand, contributing to achieving this great result, were thanked by the Regional President Marco Salvadori, with the hope of being able to be present again and participate in the next editions of this important event (source: FIDC Toscana).
