Il hunting calendar of the Marche is considered one of the best in Italy, but there are those who have appealed to the Regional Administrative Court precisely against this text. These are the local sections of the WWF and LAC who have published a joint press release to justify the reasons for their choice. The Marche calendar is called a "Yet another gift to the most extremist fringes of the hunting world".
In addition, the Region is accused of relentlessness against wildlife and of allowing "a few thousand hunters" to kill millions of specimens of migratory species. The two associations especially criticized the hunting lark, pochard and turtle dove; there is also the controversy regarding lead ammunition in wetlands and rivers.
The early opening in September and the closing in February are judged as a lack of understanding of the reproductive phases of migrants, without forgetting the lack of investment by the Marche in the wildlife recovery centers. The appeal to the TAR consists of more than 30 pages and 18 motivations. All the criticisms leveled at this regional hunting calendar would be characterized by the fact that this very text risked opening up a infringement procedure by the European Union. Now the response of the administrative judges is awaited.
