In recent days, the provincial government approved the rules on Hunting calendar relating to sedentary and migratory game. Next week, after the meeting of the Table with the hunting, environmentalist and ATC associations, the Province will also define methods and times for hunting wild boar. By the end of August, the provincial administration will disseminate, through posters and brochures, the complete calendar of the 2011-2012 hunting season, which will also be posted on the website of the Province of Siena.
The pre-opening of the hunt. The Province of Siena has asked the Tuscany Region to grant, by way of derogation, a pre-opening day for 1 September, in which hunting from stalking can be carried out from 6 to 19, only in the ATC of the hunting residence. the turtle dove, the wood pigeon, the blackbird, the magpie, the jay and the hooded crow. In wooded areas, consisting of at least one hectare of surface, not less than 50 meters wide and not interrupted by crops or waterways, hunting can only be exercised by stationary stalking. The derogation request also provides, again on 1 September, to hunt only from a fixed position for teal, mallard and garganey, from 6 to 19, in the artificial lakes of the Province or in other artificially flooded areas with exclusion of those located within the SPAs.
The general opening of the hunt. The general opening of the hunt is set for Sunday 18 September. Pheasant hunting is allowed, in the territory subject to scheduled management, from 18 September until 31 December 2011. Hunting for hare is allowed from 18 September to 8 December 2011 and can also be carried out in the form of the hunt with a maximum of four participants. From 1 to 30 January 2012, hunting is allowed throughout the provincial territory exclusively from a fixed or temporary position, which must be accessed with the unloaded, disassembled or custody shotgun. In the same period, wandering hunting with the use of the dog (only standing and hunting) is allowed, only to woodcock, within the wooded areas, falling within the area suitable for wild boar with the exclusion of the areas placed within the SPAs. Also from 1 to 30 January 2012, fox hunting is allowed throughout the provincial territory in the traditional batting form, with a minimum of eight participants, subject to communication to the Province of the constitution of the team and the designation of the manager and in compliance of the indications issued by the ATCs. During the periods in which hunting from stalking is allowed, for the purpose of retrieving the game, the use of the dog that has particular aptitudes to retrieve is allowed, under the direct control of the owner or handler, within a radius of 150 meters from the stakeout itself, but with the obligation to always remain at a distance of no less than 50 meters from other stakeouts from which the hunting activity is simultaneously exercised. Red partridge and partridge hunting is prohibited throughout the provincial territory with the exception of the hunting farms.
The selection hunt for roe deer, fallow deer, mouflon and red deer is allowed in the management districts and in public and private wildlife institutes, according to the specific sampling plans approved by the Province, from 1 August to 17 September 2011 and from 1 ° February to March 15, 2012, five days a week, from one hour before sunrise to one hour after sunset. Throughout the hunting season, the access of hunters to the stalks for the selection hunting of roe deer, fallow deer, mouflon and red deer must take place with the weapon unloaded and enclosed in the case. During this activity, hunters are allowed to carry only rifles or other weapons listed in the provincial regulations for the wildlife and hunting management of deer and bovids. The training and training of dogs is allowed, on the entire territory not subject to a hunting ban, only to hunters registered with the ATC, from 21 August to 15 September, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, from sunrise until 11 am and from 14 pm to 19 pm (summer time).

Hunting card. The hunter must have a hunting card, valid throughout the national territory, issued by the Municipality of residence, upon showing the valid hunting license and the slip certifying the return of the previous season's card. Hunters who have changed residence after the start of the previous hunting season will collect their card from the Municipality of origin. The hunter, at the beginning of the hunting day, must mark, with a sign (• ox), using an indelible pen of dark color, preferably black, the appropriate spaces of the hunting card corresponding to the date of the hunting day, of the Territorial Area of Hunting or private institute. It must also indicate any mobility and continuous use of hunting days for migratory stalking game. Each head of sedentary game must also be indicated after killing. For migratory game, the number of animals killed must be indicated in the appropriate spaces at the end of the hunting day. The card is a means of checking the quantities and species withdrawn and for this purpose must be returned no later than March 20 of each year to the Municipality of residence or, in case of change of residence, to the Municipality that issued it.
The territorial areas of hunting. The territory of the Province of Siena is divided into three districts: ATC17; ATC 18 and ATC 19. The ATC17 includes the Municipalities of Casole d'Elsa, Castellina in Chianti, Chiusdino, Colle di Val d'Elsa, Monteriggioni, Monticiano, Poggibonsi, Radda in Chianti, Radicondoli, San Gimignano, Sovicille. ATC 18 includes the Municipalities of Asciano, Buonconvento, Castelnuovo Berardenga, Gaiole in Chianti, Montalcino, Monteroni d'Arbia, Murlo, Rapolano Terme, San Giovanni d'Asso, Siena. ATC 19 includes the Municipalities of Abbadia San Salvatore, Castiglione d'Orcia, Cetona, Chianciano, Chiusi, Montepulciano, Piancastagnaio, Pienza, Radicofani, S. Casciano Bagni, San Quirico d'Orcia, Sarteano, Sinalunga, Torrita di Siena and Trequanda.
