Venatori calendars: the Tar of Veneto suspends the regional hunting calendar following the appeal presented by the animal rights activists.
The President of the Regional Administrative Court of Veneto with the Decree n.472 of 1 August 2012 suspended the Regional Hunting Calendar relating to the 2012/2013 Hunting Season, in particular in the parts concerning the pre-opening of hunting for the Merlo and Tortora species, to the period for the training and training of hunting dogs and finally, in the part concerning the two additional days reserved for hunting migratory birds in the months of October and November.
The suspension was ordered following the appeal presented by the Victims of Hunting Association against the resolution of the Veneto Region no. 1130 of 12 June 2012 showing the regional hunting calendar.
The president of the TAR decided to proceed as a matter of urgency by suspending the Hunting Calendar until the Council Chamber scheduled for next 13 September 2012 as, according to the motivation of the decree, the problems highlighted relating to the suspended parts relating to the pre-opening to the Merlo and to the Tortora, the two additional days reserved for hunting migratory stalking fauna in the months of October and November and the training period for hunting dogs starting from the third Sunday of August until the second Sunday of September do not adhere to the opinion of the ISPRA , Higher Institute for Research and Environmental Protection.
Satisfaction expressed by MEP Andrea Zanoni, President of LAC Veneto, who thus commented on the decision of the TAR, "The pronouncement of the President of the TAR shows that the Veneto Region, in total disregard of the opinion of ISPRA, wanted to force the hand by legislating in contrast to the directives of this State-recognized scientific technical institute ”.
He then continued critic Zanoni, "It seems that the sentences of the European Court of Justice for the violation of the Birds Directive have taught nothing to the Giunta Zaia which continues to operate in favor of the insignificant lobby of hunters and against the interests of the majority of Venetian citizens and our environmental heritage ".
In conclusion, the MEP said satisfied, "The Venetian hunters, therefore, will remain dry-mouthed with regard to the training of their dogs and will not be able to shoot at Merlo and Tortora in the first half of September, moreover they will not be able to take advantage of the two hunting gift days between October and November ".
