Regional reform on hunting presented in Piedmont
It will also be possible to hunt hen and lark and use the radio. Green light to the "shooting enclosures" and to the importation of hunters
After 15 years from its approval, the hunting law according to the Regional Councilor for Agriculture Claudio Sacchetti and the president of the III Hunting and Fishing Commission of the Piedmont Region, Gian Luca Vignale, needed changes and updates aimed at making the hunting activity one instrument of protection and promotion of the regional territory.
And therefore the two have prepared a new text of the law which, "placing at the center the correct balance between hunting, the territory and the native fauna species - reads in the communiqué of the councilorship -, gives the hunting activity that respect and that promotion that has been waiting for a long time ".
“The text - explains the press release - contains some simplifications for hunting and changes aimed at greater functionality of the logistical and operational aspects of the law in force in terms of game bags, timetables, sanctions in accordance with national legislation. In addition to the abolition of the ban on the use of the radio, for example, longer periods are foreseen for the introduction of specimens of wildlife, new species included among those that can be hunted (such as moorhen and lark), increased species huntable and daily and seasonal game bags; moreover, the intervention of hunters in the containment plans is also allowed in protected areas. The provisions relating to the daily and seasonal game bag and hunting days for the selective collection of ungulates are also modified in order to reduce the hunting pressure, potentially distributing it over the week, to encourage the hunter to deliver the culled animals, where foreseen. , and favor the completion of selective and numerical abatement plans, which are currently difficult to reach.
Another important novelty of the text is represented by the establishment of gun enclosures which, according to the drafters, in addition to responding to a particularly felt need from the hunting and dog world, will guarantee economic benefits not only to the farms that will manage them, but also to the entire tourism-hospitality sector.
The Vignale - S sack bill provides for the possibility for the regional council to regulate the admission of hunters residing in other regions to cover the numerous places still available and increase the income of the ATC and CA, thus favoring compensation for damage caused by wildlife to agricultural productions. The recognition of the role of territorial management bodies, which represent not only the agricultural world, but also the environmental world, also goes in this direction, making them compliant with the provisions of national legislation.
The bill will now follow the administrative process through the vote of the Commission and that of the classroom of the Regional Council. However, beyond the formal consultations that will take place within the III Commission, Sacchetti and Vignale will open a discussion on the text with institutions, associations, exponents of the agricultural and hunting world in order to open a new phase of collaboration and debate on hunting activity.
