The 1st training course for Volunteer Hunting Guards of the Bat Province has started, aimed at giving adequate preparation to volunteers in the context of the role covered according to the new regulations.
The training course lasts 80 hours and will professionally train 250 volunteers so that as experts they can take the field to protect the territory of the newly established province of the Puglia Region.
The new course was presented, with great success, last Friday 28 October at the auditorium of the “Umberto I °” Agricultural Technical Institute in Andria, seat of the BAT Province, Barletta-Andria-Trani; the organization of the training course is handled by the Provincial Surveillance and Police Sector directed by Dr. Franco Greco.
Great impulse to the initiative was given by the councilor for agriculture, hunting and fishing of the BAT province, Domenico Campana, who wants to train voluntary professional figures in the new province with the minimum cost for the provincial administration, and declares, "Public sensitivity on certain issues should not be neglected and therefore training new" levers "in a new territory helps to respond to the requests of both the public and the institutions, in order to better protect the environment and the territory and hence the quality of life for the benefit of the entire population ”.
The commissioner continues, "Within the province, these Guards will have to ensure constant vigilance the defense of water, air and soil from pollution, in order to eliminate or even reduce the factors of environmental imbalance or degradation in agro-forestry land ".
Finally, Campana concludes on the tasks of future volunteers: "The task of the employees therefore must not be limited only to the ascertainment and repression of illegal hunting, but it must extend to general surveillance in relation to the protection of the environment, fauna and agricultural crops".
The new Hunting Guards are volunteer citizens who, properly trained, make their free time available to the environment and public utility absolutely free of charge; in carrying out their supervisory duties on the territory, the volunteers will be able to ascertain administrative violations in hunting matters with the possibility of collaborating with other institutional bodies in the same area.
