Judgment no. 160/2020 of Constitutional Court rejects the appeal of Tar of the Marche against the regional law authorizing farmers with hunting license to participate in the killing of wild boars within their companies. He complained that, among other things, the extension to the owners of the funds of the possibility of taking part in the planned selection activity which was de facto unconstitutional. A thesis - explains Franco Aceto president of Coldiretti Calabria - that the "Judge of the Laws" has now rejected, effectively opening the possibility for all Regions to follow the example of the Marches. An important opportunity to put a stop to a phenomenon, that of the proliferation of wild animals, which is also devastating our countryside.
The Marche region, with respect to the regional plan for the control of wild boars, had authorized the farmers owners or conductors of the natural life funds to be able to kill the wild boars, with evident effects also on the other wild that will now become slaughtered by the same. farmers or selecontrollers ". Faced with an increasing presence of wild boars, which as Coldiretti we have repeatedly reported and which has also caused considerable difficulties and accidents even in non-rural areas, there is now the concrete possibility that the Regional Council will complete the fundamental step that authorizes farmers to intervene directly on their own funds to defend themselves from wild boars and wild animals.
This - continues Aceto - means recognizing farmers to defend the agri-food and livestock heritage preserved over time with a daily commitment to ensure the protection of historical agricultural crops, the protection of the territory from hydrogeological instability and the maintenance of food traditions, a treasure endangered by the advance of wild boars that increasingly pushed themselves into the courtyards and doors of houses, running around the streets of the villages or on the fields, in the stables and on farms ".
The invasion of wild boars - adds Coldiretti - has caused considerable damage to companies, often forcing them to leave uncultivated land, distorting the production structure of the areas with the risk that the presence of farmers is reduced, especially in inland areas, and with it the constant maintenance work that guarantees protection from hydrogeological instability. The unbridled proliferation of wild boars is also endangering the environmental balance of vast territorial ecosystems. Studies and experiences relating to the high density of wild boars in areas of high naturalistic value have shown considerable critical issues - concludes Coldiretti - in particular as regards the relationship between the growth of the wild population and forest vegetation.
