GREECE: Italy ahead of everyone at the World Hunting Championships
Italy in the lead among the English after the first day of Hunting World Championships practiced in Serres, Greece. On a day that was anything but favorable to smell - high humidity, dense fog, intermittent rain, constantly changing wind direction - few dogs entered the rankings among the rocks and junipers of Greek Macedonia. Few but good.
In the first heat only the tricolor setter Sirio, led by Stefano Conti, managed to pierce the waterproof and flawless notebook of the judges, making his 1st Excellent Cac, translated into Cacit at the end of the day without the need for a barrage.
Azzurri on the shields also in the second battery, won with merit by the usual Anter, Marco Pardini's white-orange pointer. His 1st Excellent with which he preceded two French rivals (2nd and 3rd Excellent) and a Croatian (Very good).
Italy now leads the ranking of the British, while at the moment the first reports are awaited as regards the continental ones, which until an hour ago were still engaged in the recalls. After tomorrow's break on the occasion of Sant'Uberto - in which the hunting dogs and some more “pink” presence will also be appreciated - the World Championship will end on Sunday, with the second and last day. According to forecasts, the weather should not discount for the whole weekend, which means rather serious difficulties in meeting and therefore very tough selection for all competitors. But then this is a World Championship ...
