The new passion of nature-loving hunters is digiscoping which combines a love of photography and life in the open air. It is no coincidence that for two consecutive years the Italian digiscoping champion was a hunter with a passion for nature.
Digiscoping is the logical arrival point for nature and photography lovers. This activity to be discovered, new, to be explored, whose fundamental rules are still to be worked out, combines the two passions, giving those who practice it unforgettable days in contact with nature. It is basically a photographic technique that associates a camera (which can be compact, even better if reflex) with a nice telescope designed specifically for observation.
The charm of this activity, which helps enthusiasts to catalog the fantastic nature in an orderly way, is given especially by the fact that even at great distances the photographer will be able to immortalize wonderful close-ups of animals otherwise unreachable.
And if the technology used is in step with the times and the digital reflex camera associated with a good lens and an advanced telescope, the hunter photographer will be able to cover truly surprising distances, managing to reach even 6000 mm of focal length. Obviously the better the lenses used, the higher the quality of the captured image.
To attract photography lovers to this sensational art form were above all the costs, lowered compared to those that had to be incurred for the purchase of traditional super canvases. Suffice it to say that good results are also obtained when combining telescope and compact 4 mega pixels cheap.
So basically when we talk about digiscoping we are referring to the art of photography through the lens, not of the camera, but of the telescope.
Obviously it is practice that makes any enthusiast a professional and the purchase of the right technology and the right equipment. To make digiscoping even more attractive is the completely modern possibility to review the photos on the computer, to modify them, to improve them and above all to share them with fans of the genre and nature and why not, to sell them to anyone interested.
Such an innovative discipline could only arise out of pure chance. Some Asian birdwatchers were the first to talk about what would later become digiscoping, at the end of the nineties, when it was decided to mount telescopic eyepieces on digital cameras, to have a greater range.
The results, although immediately exceptional, were able to be improved thanks above all to experience and constantly evolving technologies. Thanks to special adapters, observation and above all photographic shooting become an emotion to be experienced firsthand.
Although it is often ignored, digital cameras and reflex cameras can be used indiscriminately in the practice of digiscoping, especially since the latest reflex models are proving to be increasingly refined from a technological point of view, light and with the possibility of giving the user unlimited creative control. Yet digital as easy to imagine, prove to be much easier to use, equipped as they are with numerous automatisms that facilitate the life of the novice photographer.
The reasons that have given digiscoping so much success are numerous, but among these at least 4 can be clearly highlighted:
• the possibility of observing nature with precision and calm even from great distances, without disturbing the animals or putting them on the run, admiring their natural behaviors;
• immortalize wonderful scenes to preserve, archive, share;
• respect nature and live in close contact with it;
• the possibility of immersing oneself in nature by carrying light tools that allow an immediate review of the photographs taken.
Impossible to remain indifferent to this wonderful passion that combines photography and love for nature. Once captured by the charm of digiscoping, all that remains is to get a digital camera, be it compact or reflex, a good telescope and obviously an adapter that connects one to the other.
Another indispensable element is the tripod, essential to ensure stability to the photos, given the distances that the objectives must cover. To make this passion even more enjoyable there are also various accessories, such as comfortable backpacks or different eyepieces that will allow you to obtain 5-star results.
It is also good to never forget that as much as experience and good tools can make a difference, the quality of the photographs taken will also depend a lot on atmospheric and external conditions. Wind, lack of light, pollution could make the image less sharp and slightly distorted.
Having said that, all that remains is to wish you lots of fun and good immersion in the clear and lush nature.
