The Provincial Council of Arezzo approved the 2012-2015 Wildlife Hunting Plan, “an example of serious and innovative work.
Among the other issues on the agenda, the Provincial Council of Arezzo examined the 2012-2015 Wildlife Hunting Plan, defined by President Roberto Vasai as “one of the fundamental acts of the legislature. The Provincial Wildlife Plan is an example of how we can work seriously and in an innovative way, as we did by submitting it to the Strategic Environmental Assessment (Vas) and involving hundreds of external subjects in the consultation phase ”.
Continuing Vasai explained, "In recent years, and this Plan is its certification, we wanted to close an era of conflict in hunting to create a serious and correct discussion table between real hunters and real environmentalists based on respect for the environment. and current laws ".
The UDC group leader Simone Palazzo opened the debate by recalling “the opposition that has also emerged in recent months between my party and the provincial administration on issues related to hunting. I can only hope that this plan will bear the fruits that were hoped for by President Vasai, but honestly I am not convinced. In fact, I don't think it can be a really effective tool and I announce my vote against ”.
The intervention of the Pd councilor, Cristiano Marini, was quite different, saying, "The Plan is an important act that has committed us for a long time and I want, first of all, to congratulate the technical structure and the political direction of the President Vasai. The plan is convincing for its training methodology and for its constant search for participation and sharing ". Concluding Marini then declared, “It is a further confirmation of how the provincial context is fundamental for the governance of issues like this”.
The leader of the PDL, Lucia Tanti, instead announced the abstention vote of her group stating “It is a historicized abstention to date, because with the reorganization of the Provinces the matter should pass from strictly provincial to regional competence. An in-depth analysis must therefore be made to resolve the conflicts that currently exist between our institution and the Region ”.
In her speech, the leader of the IDV, Sara Bonconpagni, instead spoke of the “value of the great work that today comes to the approval of the board, which we have had the opportunity to appreciate several times in the committee”. In addition, Boncompagni specified, "I emphasize in particular the objective of finding a balance between hunting and the protection of the environment and the territory".
Another favorable vote came from the PD councilor, Stefania Mancini who declared, "The Plan stems from the excellent work of the technical structure of the Province and from the comparison with all stakeholders and is definitely at the forefront, combining all the interests in the field ".
After the thanks of President Vasai for the contributions made in the debate, the vote was passed which saw the approval of the Wildlife Hunting Plan with 16 votes in favor, 1 against and 6 abstentions.
