Hunting Dogs: Follonica (GR), the municipal administration denies that hunters can set up dog cages with fixed covers in order to protect dogs from the weather and the sun.
Grosseto: For months the hunters had been waiting for a meeting with the municipal administration, hoping that the rules governing the construction of dog cages in the countryside would be revised: that meeting, however, never arrived, on the contrary, the leaders of the municipality decided not to listen to the demands of the hunting world.
And so the hunters say they are "amazed" by the behavior of the municipal administration, as evidenced by the bright tones used by some Follonian citizens gathered yesterday morning under the municipal building.
The words of the deputy mayor Stefano Viviani made the hunters go into a rage who, after the attitude of openness shown by the municipal authorities, asked to be able to set up the dog cages with fixed covers (while the urban planning regulations only allow open fences) so as to protect the animals from the weather and the sun.
After several meetings with the technicians, the Administration has however decided not to accept the requests of the hunting world: "For the kennels - said Deputy Mayor Viviani - no changes are planned". And the first reactions are not the best.
After the protests under the town hall announced by Stefano Biagini, promoter of the collection of signatures for the protection of animals, the president of Federcaccia, Roberto Pacenti from Follonica, speaks: "For months - explains the local representative of the association - we have been waiting for news from 'Municipal administration on the possibility of changing the rules governing the presence of dog cages in the countryside: it was some majority councilors who listened to our reasons, making us understand the possibility of an opening by the administration.
I myself had complimented the authorities for showing their interest in the issue: retracing one's steps is a symptom of intelligence. But now I'm forced to change my mind. If what the deputy mayor says is true, the hunters will change their position, leaving the peaceful line held so far ».
