"We are in a free country and therefore, even if I do not agree with them, I can understand the requests of animal rights activists, but some ultras of animalism certainly do not play the game of who is for animal rights".
This was declared by the group leader of PT / Nuovo Center-right in the Tuscany Region, Antonio Gambetta Vianna, commenting on the news of the lawsuit filed by the Confederazione Cacciatori Toscani, an association that brings together Federcaccia, Arcicaccia and Anuu, against the Grosseto head of the Anti-Vivisection League, Giacomo Bottinelli.
"As mentioned, we are in a free country - continues the exponent of the New Center-right - and it is perfectly right that there is freedom of thought, but this does not mean that we should get to offend other people or even an entire category. The words used by Bottinelli at the end of 2013 that led to the lawsuit by the associations of hunters they are in a climate of war and to be condemned in the strongest manner. I remember that in the past some anti-hunts even went so far as to praise the shooting of hunters and this certainly does not “make the animal rights movement more sympathetic” ».
For Gambetta Vianna, “the tenor of Bottinelli's declarations does nothing but further exacerbate a climate that is already heavy in itself, as well as reporting things that are not entirely correct. In fact, as the Confederation of Tuscan Hunters explained well, for the release of the hunting licenses a medical certification is required and above all the hunting license does not automatically enable the carrying of weapons. Institutions are even questioned and it is good that they intervene in the appropriate forums ».
