Hunting: the Lombardy Regional Administrative Court rejects the two "extra" days.
THE SENTENCE. The Lombardy Regional Administrative Court, Brescia section, accepted the appeal of the Lac suspending the two days of additional hunting for migratory fauna in the months of October and November.
Hall: "Trampled on our hunting tradition" La Lac: "A new setback for a senseless policy"
Another cold shower for Brescia hunters. Yesterday the TAR of Brescia, after the stop at the pre-opening for turtledove and blackbird, rejected another decision of the provincial council (linked to a regional derogation from the national law): the two days a week of additional hunting for migratory fauna in the months of October and November. In short, now you can only shoot three days a week instead of five.
The stop comes with an order that accepts a petition presented to the judges by the hunting abolition League (Lac). The key motivation? "The number of hunting days appears recessive with respect to the interest in the conservation of hunted species which, according to Ispra's opinion, appears threatened, not exclusively but undoubtedly also by the exercise of hunting". The victory of the environmentalists then becomes threefold if we also consider the ordinance, also of the Tar, for the greater protection of the Alpine passes (Maniva and Colle San Zeno) to which the Province has adapted in recent months by prohibiting the wandering of migratory birds. .
The comment of the provincial councilor for hunting Alessandro Sala was very harsh, while the environmental associations rejoice, Lac in the lead. «The measure - said Sala - is of an unprecedented severity and is a cause of indignation for the hunters. Unexceptionable from a formal point of view, it has consequences that trample the hunting tradition with indifference and that are offensive towards the Brescia hunters ». For the commissioner, the TAR did not investigate the documentation presented by the Province, which showed that the species examined were not suffering: "The TAR bases its judgment exclusively on the negative opinion of Ispra, without commenting on the data provided by us . At this point it is doubtful whether they have even been read. '
The comment of the hunting abolition League was sparse but incisive: «A new setback for the senselessly philovenatory policy of the Province of Brescia, since the TAR has quietly adopted our motivations on the threat to wildlife represented by hunting. A new victory that will result in a smaller loss of winged lives sacrificed on the altar of a cruel and anachronistic pastime ». P.GOR.
