La Provincial Coldiretti of Oristano is back to talk about gray crows and the damage caused by these birds to spring and summer crops, primarily vegetable crops. Farms have to contend with continuous losses and jobs at risk, therefore, a new complaint can only be made for a situation out of control. In addition to the crows, wild boars and nutria are of the greatest concern.
According to the agricultural association, interventions should be more timely, otherwise there is a risk of unnecessary actions. Crows mainly target horticultural crops and the orchards, even if there is no precise statistics on their presence in the territories. The specimens to be contained, just under 19 thousand (2 thousand in the province of Oristano), are insufficient, so much so that Coldiretti complained about the lack of consideration of the specific vocation of the Sardinian provinces.
They don't even like the breakdown of containment arrangements, that is 60% entrusted to cages and 40% to firearms. The difference is evident and privileging cages is certainly not the right thing to do in an emergency situation like that of Oristano. Finally, the association asked for an improvement of the existing containment plan, without forgetting the need for zoning to operate in areas where there is greater pressure.
