Poaching: Foggia, a man was surprised by the Forestry while he was hunting inside the Gargano National Park.
The man from the Marches who in recent days was surprised by the men of the State Forestry Corps of Cagnano Varano (FG) while hunting in Carpino, in the locality of Varisce, a protected area that is part of the Gargano National Park. The poacher, in possession of a regular firearm license, with his 12-gauge semi-automatic rifle was hunting birds belonging to protected migratory species of the finch family.
The man was charged with introducing weapons and explosive material into a protected area, illegal hunting, capturing, killing and disturbing wildlife; the poacher's rifle and related ammunition were impounded.
The men of the State Forestry Corps continued their anti-poaching activity throughout the weekend, raising administrative sanctions for various types of violations including the failure to exhibit hunting documents, the failure to recover the shells of fired cartridges, the failure to record on the hunting card for the day of hunting, failure to pay government concession fees and the absence of a specific authorization for the Territorial Hunting Area.
