Pre-opening of the hunt from 1st September. The appeals of the environmentalists are already ready
On September 31st, hunting reopens in almost all regions. The pre-openings, in fact, will anticipate the regular start of the hunting season by about twenty days. Furthermore, after the implementation of EU legislation, the closing of the season could pass from January 10st to February XNUMXth. Both decisions are contested by the major environmental associations, including WWF and Lipu, which have already announced the appeal to the TAR.
With the pre-opening, it will only be possible to shoot in two days: the first and the fifth of September, while in Puglia also the 12th. Almost all the Regions, apart from Piedmont, Emilia-Romagna and Liguria, offer this possibility.
But the actual calendars are slow to arrive, to avoid appeals to the TAR of environmentalists, with resolutions that will be published even after 28-29 August. For this reason, some Regions have decided to entrust the pre-opening to the individual provinces, such as in Tuscany, Emilia-Romagna and Lombardy (only Brescia joined here).
For now, reveals Patrizia Fantilli, head of the legislative office of the WWF, referring to the scheduled appeals, "we have agreed on Veneto, which is still asking for exemptions for brambles and finches, Lombardy, Tuscany, Calabria and Abruzzo". The president of WWF Italy, Stefano Leoni, speaks directly to the hunters, with an appeal in extremis: "Do not take the field in the days of the pre-opening: it would benefit the fauna and all citizens".
Among the main innovations introduced by article 42 of the community legislation, the possibility of extending the hunt for 10 days in February, but delaying its start in September. An eventuality which, according to experts, "only Sardinia is currently working". According to the latest figures from the Ministry of Agriculture, there are 710 hunters in 14 Regions for the 2008-2009 season. The region with the highest number of double goals is Tuscany (126.734 units), followed by Lombardy (90.750), Lazio (89.840) and Emilia Romagna (69.060).
