HUNT - PRESTIGIACOMO, AMENDMENTS APPROVED TO THE SENATE UNACCEPTABLE
"The amendments to article 38 of the 2009 EU law appear unacceptable, which aim to extend the hunting period beyond the current maximum limits and which were approved by the Senate Commission". This was stated by the Minister of the Environment Stefania Prestigiacomo.
”The amendments - notes the Minister - insert a criterion of discretion on the part of local administrations in setting the calendars of hunting activities. A measure that can give rise to extensive interpretations that are irreconcilable with the needs of safeguarding the wildlife heritage and environmental balance ”.
"Furthermore - underlines Prestigiacomo - the proposals are in contrast with EU regulations and would trigger a further aggravation of the infringement procedures already initiated against our country with the risk of heavy sanctions".
"In the World Year of Biodiversity - concludes the head of the Department of the Environment - it would be very unedifying for our country to signal itself for a measure that certainly does not move in the direction of protecting the ecosystem".
