Today, October 4, the bill n.2422 is being discussed in the Senate, which aims to provide guidelines for the "authentic interpretation" of the law that establishes hunting methods in relation to the hunting area chosen.
The bill, presented by the Northern League senators Divina and Pittoni, has already aroused the controversy of environmentalists who would see it as a sort of amnesty for hunters sanctioned in recent hunting seasons for their illegal behavior regarding hunting areas.
In fact the 157 / 92 law establishes that at the beginning of each hunting season each hunter must choose the area, plain or mountain, in which to practice the hunting activity without the possibility of changing it until the end of the season; in practice, each hunter can exercise only one of the hunting methods envisaged, that is to say wandering in the Alps area, from a fixed position or in all the other permitted forms.
If a hunter is caught hunting in a different territory than the one he has chosen, he will incur the penalties provided for by article 31 lett. a) of law 157/92, or the payment of 412 euros and the reporting to the Questore for the subsequent suspension of the license for one year.
The LAV manager of the Hunting and Wildlife sector, Massimo Vitturi, comments "More than an authentic interpretation, in this case we can certainly speak of an ad personam interpretation which has the sole purpose of condoning some hunters, elevating them to privileged citizens, above of the laws and norms of the democratic state, a shameful, unbearable and indecent act of blatant clientelism that we hope will be promptly rejected by the democratic forces present in the classroom ”.
Vitturi concludes, "We appeal to the government to promptly intervene with its allies if the" savvy "rule were to be approved, who would lose out once again would be the image and credibility of our country".
The environmental associations, LAV at the forefront, have already joined on a war footing against this decree, which they call "Salva Furbetti", against the promoters of this decree and all those, hunters of course, who support it and they want approval.
For the ENPA, the LIPU and the WWF it would be a legal device that modifies the current national legislation on the protection of fauna and regulation of hunting, thus favoring those who have violated the law and ask the institutions, in particular in the Senate which will have to vote today, not to vote in favor.
According to the various environmental associations, the decree in question was proposed above all to save most of the Trentino hunters sanctioned for having practiced hunting in other regions despite having chosen the Alps area as the area.
