The Agriculture, Environment and Territory Commissions, in joint session, approve the designation of the new Sites of Territorial Importance (Sic) and Special Protection Areas (SPAs) at the request of the provincial administrations.
Florence: In Tuscany, eight other natural habitats will be protected according to the rules of the European Union, so as to protect both the environment and flora and fauna.
The green light for the resolution, which will be approved in the next Regional Council, came from the 'Agriculture' and 'Environment and Territory' Commissions meeting in joint session.
The representatives of Udc, Fi / PdL and An / PdL abstained from the decision.
The proposal to put these territories under protection was received by the Region from the provincial administrations of Lucca, Pisa, Prato and Pistoia, which requested either new institutions of Sites of Territorial Importance (SIC) and Special Protection Area (SPA) or extensions of areas already classified.
The Province of Lucca has proposed the designation of the new SCI for the “Padule di Verciano, Prati alle Fontane and Padule delle Monache” site and the extension of that of “Monte Pisano”.
The Province of Pisa has requested the establishment of the “Boschi di Germagnana and Montalto” and “Lago di Sante Lucia” SCIs and the extension of that of “Monte Pisano”.
The Province of Prato has asked for the designation of the new SCI for the “Appennino Prato” site and as an SPA for the “Piana Pratese” one. In this case, given that the proposed area is contiguous to the “Ponds of the Florentine plain” SCI, in agreement with the Province of Florence it was decided to establish a single new site now called “Ponds of the Florentine and Prato plain”.
The Province of Pistoia has requested the designation of the new SIC “Tre Limentre Reno”.
