Hunting: In the Province of Rieti there are new rules for wild boar hunting in the name of safety and environmental protection.
The Agriculture, Hunting and Fishing Commission of the Province of Rieti chaired by the provincial councilor Giuseppe Martellucci has shared the new provincial regulation for wild boar hunting. The shared synthesis was reached after detailed discussion in the numerous committee sessions, as well as in two meetings of the technical committee of the Province of Rieti hunting in which the hunting and agricultural associations in addition to the Atc 1 and 2 participate.
The regulation, which will be approved in the commission on Monday 23 August, reiterates that all hunting, and wild boar in particular, must be practiced in maximum safety for the hunters themselves and for the citizens, users and operators in the territory; whereas the meat of the slaughtered wild boar must have a health certification in order to guarantee the food safety of consumers; that wild boar driven hunt promoted as a team in suitable areas guarantees correct management of the territory and a certain presence also in peripheral areas.
Wild boar hunting is also allowed to individual hunters, in compliance with the same rules and under the same conditions as colleagues organized as a team, as requested by the technical hunting committee. In the long debate, the commission underlined the need to bring the presence of the wild boar back only to suitable territorial areas, urges an action to eradicate the wild boar from areas not suited and in any case destined for agriculture also with the use of selective killing, and all in order to eliminate damage to agriculture.
