Wild boar hunting: The new regulation for wild boar hunting has finally been approved but the controversy among the political parties remains bitter.
Rieti: The document approved on Tuesday in the provincial council, but which will come into force only from the 2011-2012 season, is in fact seen as smoke in the eyes by the provincial center-right, which in recent months has waged a tough battle in the press and in the agriculture commission, then resulted in long interventions within the provincial council.
In the end, however, the new regulation was approved by a majority with 15 votes in favor and 6 against, after a first provincial council dedicated to approving the document was skipped due to lack of a quorum. A postponement that the center-right had read as the result of divisions within the same majority of Palazzo d'Oltre Velino.
The councilor for hunting, as well as vice-president of the provincial administration, Oreste Pastorelli, director of the difficult operation, said he was however satisfied with the quality of the text and the rules contained therein but also for the consultation work carried out in recent months with the associations and hunters. Satisfaction was also expressed by the president of the commission, Giuseppe Martellucci, and by the President of the Province, Fabio Melilli.
On the other hand, the PDL's judgment was harsh, accusing the center-left of not understanding that the wild boar problem is enormous, just think of the enormous damage that farmers are forced to suffer year after year. "In fact, this is a regulation that displeases everyone - comments the provincial councilor of the PDL, Felice Costini -" It is a document that does not satisfy anyone: hunting associations don't like it, team hunters don't like it, single hunters don't like it. farmers like it.
It imposes strong restrictions on wild boar hunting precisely at a time when we are counting a lot of damage to agricultural land. Besides, we just can't understand why the majority wanted to speed up approval at all costs, given that the new regulation will only come into force next season - concludes Costini - in short, our opinion is absolutely negative ».
