Viterbo - Trapè: "The work of the Province for a peaceful hunting exercise"
2009 hunting season, official dates and methods of exercise. Also this year there will be two pre-opening days, on 2 and 6 September - with the exclusion of the territories included in the Special Protection Areas (Zps) - and hunting from fixed or temporary stalking is allowed, without the aid. of the dog, to the species: Turtledove (Streptopelia turtur turtur), Hooded Crow (Corpus corone cornix), Magpie (Pica pica) and Jay (Garrulus glandarius).
The actual opening will instead take place on 20 September. The training and training of dogs on the territory of the region, with the exception of the SPA areas, is allowed from 27 August 2009 until 17 September 2009 inclusive, from sunrise to 19, with the exclusion of 2 and 6 September 2009. Each hunter's game bag cannot exceed the daily limit of five animals for each of the species: Dove (Streptopelia turtur turtur), Hooded Crow (Corvus corone cornix), Magpie (Pica pica) and Jay (Garrulus glandarius). As for the hunting calendar for the 2009-10 season, as mentioned, the general opening will take place on 20 September and nothing has changed compared to the forecasts of recent years. The only exception concerns the gray partridge (Perdix perdix), a species that can be hunted from 20 September 2009 to 31 December 2009 only in the wildlife-hunting farms that report the species in the wildlife address, according to the forecasts contained in the annual sampling plans approved by the Province. Hunting sampling is conditional on the existence and consistency in each holding of populations of the species capable of self-reproducing in the absence of releases.
Resolution 363 of 16 May 2008 remains in force, with which the regional council established the methods of hunting in the Special Protection Areas. In January, hunting is allowed on Thursdays and Sundays. An exception is that relating to ungulates which is allowed in the five days provided for by law 157/92; pre-opening is prohibited with the exception of selection hunting for ungulates; dog training is prohibited before 1 September and after the closing of the hunting season, with exceptions the Zac (Dog training area) for which the ban relates to the period 15 March -31 July; the use of lead shot in wet areas is not allowed. With the beginning of the hunting season, the controversies created by the hunting associations in search of visibility, in order to grab the largest number of insurance companies and therefore of associates, also grow. The Province is also involved in this controversy with spurious arguments. Obviously, the content of the hunting calendar, which, as is well known, is approved by the Region, cannot be attributed to the institution of via Saffi. Also because many statements are inaccurate. To say that the killing of partridge ready to hunt is allowed in wildlife farms is not true. In fact, the entries of these subjects are not allowed thanks to the forecasts of the hunting calendar. Similarly, criticizing the Province for the involvement of wild boar hunting teams in the prevention of damage and in the management of the territory, in order to grab some cards of the so-called free hunters, certainly represents a short-sighted attitude, which cannot find consensus. both in the hunting world more sensitive to the expectations of society, and in the world outside that of hunters. “We therefore believe - comments the councilor for hunting, Mario Trapè - that the work put in place so far by the Province can not only allow a serene and correct development of the hunting activity, but also a growth of the territory in terms of management. It is no coincidence that the efforts made to allow the establishment of the ATC in the Viterbo area is already an example of how hunters, farmers, environmentalists and local authorities can find satisfaction and agreement in a common and participatory management of wildlife ". The main rules for hunting in the upcoming season have been published by presidential decrees from the Region.
