To cope with the emergency wild boars that cause more and more damage to crops, the Province of Lucca has authorized a hunt in the manner of the "hunt" with more than fifty hunters.
Despite the attempts to reduce the harmful incidence of the numerous populations of wild boars in the provincial territory of Lucca with the so-called "control interventions", the ungulates continue to be present in large numbers and represent a big problem especially for local crops.
Precisely to compensate for the failure of the normal control interventions, the Province of Lucca authorized an extraordinary intervention, a wild boar hunt in the manner of the hunt carried out by more than fifty hunters and dogs to be carried out by 20 May.
The Province has collected reports from farms regarding the "impossibility of proceeding with normal agricultural sowing due to the continuous presence of wild boars", also requesting the reduction of these ungulates.
The area identified to carry out the extraordinary control of the wild boar is located in San Quirico di Moriano (LU) near the Serchio river. A surveillance agent must be present at the hunt and the authorization for the hunt must normally be communicated to the Provincial Police and the Management Committee of the Territorial Hunting Area as well as the killing must be communicated to the Wildlife Resources Office.
All the culled animals will be divided among the owners and tenants of the estates who have been victims of damage by wild boars in the last two years or otherwise sent to authorized processing centers.
