The Minister of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forestry, Francesco Lollobrigida, underlined that hunting activity is legitimate and subject to state regulation. However, in recent years, some organizations have abused appeals and delaying proceedings to negatively influence their smooth running, even attempting to obstruct them. This has harmed honest citizens who contribute to repopulation and bio-regulation initiatives, fulfilling their tax obligations on time.
The Minister expressed concern at the indifference shown over time by the institutions in resolving this issue, underlining the importance of clear and non-interpretable rules to regulate this legal practice, also recognized at European level. Therefore, during the conference of the Regions on Monday, the Minister will propose the activation of a process aimed at a timely solution.
The current suspense of the hunting calendars, with various interpretations of the Ispra opinions themselves and of the laws in force, has been highlighted as problematic. To address this issue, the Minister intends to convene the recently reconstituted Wildlife Hunting Committee to draw up an effective proposal for the regulation of this hunting activity and its correct conduct.
Maria Cristina Caretta of Fratelli d'Italia, Vice President of the Montecitorio Agriculture Commission, commented positively on this initiative. You stressed that hunting is an activity subject to strict rules, laws and controls. Recognizing the fundamental role played by hunters in the control and protection of the environmental and wildlife heritage, you praised Minister Lollobrigida's decision to convene the Technical Wildlife Hunting Committee, underlining that this is a long-awaited decision based on common sense.
