Important updates from theACMA (Association of Aquatic Migrant Hunters) with regard to school training: “For our association the importance of training the hunter and the citizen on hunting themes and on ornithological / environmental research it has always been a fixed point. Being able to enter the Italian school system continuously is not easy both for the bureaucracy behind it and because I need some people who do this on a full-time basis.
Despite this in our small way when we can we do not miss the opportunity to do it and here in fact is that Friday March 11 we went to a middle school in Verona where we involved two first classes (11 12-years) in the knowledge of our activities. Specifically, we explained to the children the mystery of migrations and how we track birds through satellite technology, we taught them what information the wings of a bird can give us through the pack and finally we showed them how to faithfully reproduce birdsong with simple objects created by the hunter with his own hands (whistles).
The boys were very interested, involved and decidedly free of prejudices, but rather eager to get to know them better an activity that today for most of them is far from everyday life. The experience was very positive both for us and for the school and therefore we will try to repeat it as often as possible. Indeed, if someone wants to offer us some school and actively participate, we are as always open and available. The future passes through the young and we hunters must be present! ”.
