As disclosed by Luca Braia, Councilor for Agriculture of the Basilicata region, the first 17 were enabled Lucanian limiere dogs after passing the test evaluated by the expert judge of the ENCI. These animals are therefore officially recognized for use in control and wild boar management, which makes it possible to use the endorsement as a further intervention.
The 17 dogs were evaluated during the first session of the canine body which includes patents for selective breeds on wild boar. The test involved 22 subjects, examined in two days and in an area where it was possible to understand indifference to other wild animals. Therefore, five dogs were discarded. The agreement signed with the ENCI also involves Tuscany: in the case of Basilicata these first limiere dogs were judged positively from the point of view of quality.
Their characteristics are ideal for the control of ungulates, as well as for the quick return after the chase once you hear the call of the conductors. The first qualifications are a reality, but obviously the sessions will not end. Braia spoke of 50 requests for qualification, consequently there will be in February other test days and always in the presence of the ENCI judge. The budget is set to increase from month to month.
