They are 252 the Coadjutors who will support and support the Police of the Metropolitan City of Bologna for the nutrie control plan both through preventive surveillance and through operational interventions. The coadjutors participated between December and March in an online training course divided into three meetings during which it was exposed a theoretical part of a regulatory and scientific framework on the description of the species and its behaviors and a technique dedicated to illustrating cases and situations concerning trapping and containment actions by shooting.
Participants divided by territory: Union of Municipalities Terre di Pianura (25), Union Terre d'Acqua (27), Union of Municipalities Savena-Idice (8), Union of Municipalities Valleys of the Reno, Lavino and Samoggia (22), Union Reno Galliera (18) , Nuovo Circondario Imolese (45), Union of Municipalities of the Bolognese Apennines (8), Non-associated Municipalities - Bologna, Molinella, San Lazzaro, Budrio and Castenaso (74), extra metropolitan cities (25). The Brothers will become operational from April with practical-training interventions in the field dedicated to trapping.
Their organization will also be flexible based on operational availability in individual territories: single operators will be sufficient for sighting activities, for collection from cages at least two volunteers will be needed, while for the other nocturnal actions along ditches and embankments, a team of four figures between agents and assistants could be reached. Thanks to the support - underlined the metropolitan councilor Raffaele Persiano - of the municipalities of the metropolitan area, of Emiliano Romagnolo Channel (CER) and the Consorzio della Bonifica Renana, but above all thanks to the collaboration of the volunteers who make their time available, we are trying hard to improve the situation regarding the otters in flat land".
