Unity appeal against "wild boar poachers" in Motta Santa Lucia (CZ)
On March 30th, “Il Quotidiano della Calabria” denounced a series of intimidations by some “wild boar poachers” against the landowners of a municipality in Motta Santa Lucia; it would seem that in recent weeks there have been numerous intimidations against pensioners, peasants, workers and even against the mayor of the town. All people united by the desire to denounce the invasion of wild boars in their territories, wild boars present in numerous quantities due to the disproportionate repopulation operated by poachers.
The President of Arcicaccia Osvaldo Veneziano intervened in this regard, distancing himself from the authors of these acts. "These gentlemen are real criminals who tarnish the image of all of us who practice this activity in compliance with the law", calling them "criminals". In a letter sent to the newspaper and to the Mayor of Motta Santa Lucia, Colacino expresses the solidarity of his association with the owners of agricultural land and with the citizens as a whole.
He also writes "Know right now that Arci Caccia will become a civil party in all the proceedings that will arise on the reported facts". "For the best protection of the many honest hunters of Calabria we will make known the press article that reports the delinquent actions to the media operating in the hunting sector so that the" criminals "feel the firm condemnation and contempt of the Italian hunting world".
The President of Arcicaccia invites all hunting associations to unite to counter this situation and proposes that the Province and the Region block any restocking of wild boars, "an activity for which Ispra - writes Veneziano - has always expressed negative opinions". Finally, he appeals to hunters to isolate the offenders and actively collaborate with the police and the judiciary to identify those responsible.
