La Coldiretti regional of Sardinia released a note in which he spoke of wild boars in the island. The presence of ungulates in this region is around 90 thousand specimens, scattered throughout the territory. Moreover, in the last five years they have been contained thanks to the hunters, despite the considerable damage. The damage affects not only agricultural crops, but also the environment and other species.
The association recalled how drought and depopulation were crucial for move the wild to new pastures and new food reserves. For all these reasons Coldiretti Sardegna believes that a population census is necessary, a point remarked by the director Luke Saba. The goal is to have reliable data from which to start and then arrive at solutions that are truly shared.
The association is as ready as ever for dialogue with all the parties involved, always in order to promote protection of farms that are in great need of reference points in this precise historical moment. Health is another of the problems not to be underestimated, given that the main outbreaks of African swine fever they have been registered in Sardinian territory and cannot be underestimated.
