Hunting in derogation in the Province of Perugia: Hunting, derogation requested for finch.
Perugia, 25 Sep 2013 - The Province of Perugia is asking to activate procedures for the derogation from chasing finches. This is the proposal that comes from the third provincial council commission chaired by Luca Baldelli.
The meeting takes place following an agenda on the subject that bears the signature of the councilors Enrico Bastioli (Socialists and reformists) and Massimiliano Capitani (Pd) who ask, in fact, to "take action with the neighboring Provinces and Regions to define a virtuous that can in certain times foresee the withdrawal in derogation from the finch species ". We remind you that on August 20 the amendments to law 157/92 (article 19-bis) recently approved by Parliament with compliance with EU laws were published in the Official Gazette, and the Commission's request fits into this context.
For Franco Granocchia (IDV), who is also the managing director of hunting, “this agenda comes at the right time. We must do everything possible to support the hunting world - he added - given that in our region the sector has a turnover of 1,5 billion euros, if we consider hunting and its related activities ”.
The provincial leaders Roberta Burzigotti and regional Umberto Sergiacomi also participated in the works. For the latter, “the law establishes that the only valid opinion is that of ISPRA. The procedure provides for specifying the number of daily and annual animals to be killed for each hunter, without prejudice to the need to prepare a nominative authorization for hunters who will be able to kill such migratory game. However, an invitation to be cautious is a must as the national ISPRA will have to determine the census of game in derogation and then distribute the modest quantity to the various regions ”.
For Roberta Burzigotti (editor's note: Head of the Environment and Territory of the Faunistic Management and Environmental Protection Service of the Province of Perugia) “finches must be monitored because they are a declining species. It is therefore necessary to balance the interests of hunters with those of the environment. The fauna - he concluded - must also be safeguarded for the hunters themselves ”. This concept also agrees with Laura Zampa (Pd).
