Hunting: Pistoia, the “Migratory Project” promoted by Arcicaccia, Libera Caccia and ANUU of Pistoia as well as sponsored by the Province is underway.
The Hunting Associations Arcicaccia, Libera Caccia and Anuu of Pistoia, in collaboration with the Province, starting from this hunting season 2013/14, with a view to a general improvement in the knowledge of hunting, start an annual monitoring campaign populations of turdidae (blackbird, song thrush, redwing and cesena), lark and starling in the provincial territory, especially during the migration period, to collect important information on the movements of the species. The 2013 Pistoia Migration Project, which takes its cue from similar initiatives already carried out in previous years in the province of Pisa and Florence, aims to estimate the numerical consistency of the populations passing through our province, the phenology of the pass, the conditions environmental characteristics that characterize the step, and other parameters.
The research, which we intend to carry out also for the following years, will be able to provide valuable data on the knowledge of the different species of birds. To this end, given the fundamental contribution of the hunting world to carry out extensive research campaigns on huntable fauna, the invitation addressed to each holder of fixed stalking for small game is to collaborate in the initiative. In particular, the project examines the data of the game boxes of the fixed stalking of small game for the aforementioned species.
At the end of each hunting day, the holder of the fixed posting (or one of his guests) will have to fill in a page of a register similar to the hunting card. The information concerns the game bag divided by species. The presence at the shed must be signaled even if no animals have been hunted, in order to have a more precise picture of the actual presence of animals in relation to the hunting effort.
At the end of the hunting season, the registers can be returned to the hunting office of the Province of Pistoia, which will process the data contained therein. Anyone wishing to participate can contact the Head of the Pistoia Migration Project 2013, Luca Gironi (cell: 3477403541; mail: [email protected]).
