The President of the Pesaro 1 hunting area, Callisto Cerisoli, attacks the Provincial administration for the mismanagement of problems relating to hunting.
For Cerisoli, who in addition to the position held is also a hunter, the Province counts only the votes and thus comments on its work "The Province shows no interest in a serious control and we have to pay the damages".
In the criticisms of Cerisoli some issues are raised “This system risks exploding, under the pressure of many opposing interests. The harnessers who want to make a tailor-made calendar, farmers who are hunters and ask for damages for the wild boar, a mass of ten thousand shotguns that claim to shoot all species, the ATC unable to manage and with budgets compromised by reimbursements for damage. And finally a Province that does not pursue poaching and considers hunting only as a reservoir of votes ”.
Cerisoli thus exposes the various problems starting from the opening of the season for the wild boar hunting set for October 16; "The Beltlai Committee asked for a postponement to 23, in order to be able to devote themselves to something else (October is the month of wood pigeons), did not get it and asked the teams not to move before 23 "but nevertheless, Cerisoli says," Out of 60 teams, 25 moved on Sunday. Imagine the discontent ... ".
Another problem concerns a conflict of interest between those who are hunters and farmers at the same timeCerisoli says “Some foremen, who are also farmers, ask us for damages for the wild boar and then on the 16th they don't go hunting. Other regions have activated a serious policy on wild boar, we can't do it ”.
No less important is the problem of hunting pressure on species, explains Cerisoli, "Let's start with the figure of 10.000 hunters and do the math. Almost everyone does the pre-opening in early September on migration; the general opening of 18 September is done by everyone; October is the key month for wood pigeons, to which about 2.000 hunters are dedicated ”.
The president of the ATC continues, “Then the harnesses who are about 3.000 come into action; and let's also put 600-700 selecacciatori for the other ungulates. Almost everyone hunts on all species and then there is a complaint that game is scarce. It is useless that we release 500 every year hares e 3.000 pheasants (and slightly less the Atc 2); those disappear after a while ”.
On the question of the elimination of restocking Cerisoli admits, "Yeah, but we need another hunting management" and despite the new law entrusting the competences to the ATCs, the president says "We will have to see if they will give them to us".
Cerisoli then talks about the balance sheets of the ATC "That of the Atc 1 is 300.000 euros (each hunter pays 50 euros); 80.000 leave for the maintenance of the structure (2 permanent employees), 120.000 for game and prevention works, the other 100.000 all go into damage, 90% of which are wild boars. This was in 2010. But in 2011, to date we have already claimed damages for 330.000 euros ”.
From this the president moves on to another important problem, the one concerning the damage caused by wild boars which at the same time is a commercial resource, “There are teams that go as far as cutting down 200 garments per season. The most productive areas are around the state property, see Furlo and Cesane ”; regarding the containment of the species to limit the damage Cerisoli says “Where it is done with serious methods, only with selection hunting, as in the Sasso Simone and Simoncello park, it works. There was a drastic reduction in damage there ”.
One of the problems raised by Cerisoli is that of checks on poaching which, according to him, are “practically zero”. In all this, the Province, continues the president of the ATC, “has used the belts politically. Politics over the past 15 years has handled the hunter and not the hunt. And we pay the damage, with the sedentary fauna destroyed ”.
To solve all these problems, says Cerisoli, there would be a need for «Relieving the pressure on species through the calendar; the use of voluntary hunting guards, currently underutilized; improve the culture of the hunter. In short, return to the tracks of proper hunting practice ".
Cerisoli's judgment on the question is very critical «The conflict with the agricultural world is about to break out; and now also among hunters. We have said these things: we write letters and no one answers us. Here we need a clean break: either we manage or manage the Province. But it cannot be that they manage - badly - and we pay the damages ”.
Finally, the president of ATC Pesaro 1 concludes, "It must be managed by a technical and not a political body. There is no management by calculating the votes. Here there are already those who are moving for the next regional elections. I got it?"
