Passes the law that allows the Regions, after ISPRA's ok, to autonomously establish the start and end dates of the season. The activity is forbidden during the nesting period and the reproduction phases.
The Agriculture Committee of the Chamber approved by a majority, with 21 votes in favor and 17 against, the sub-amendment to article 43 on hunting of the EU law, which allows the Regions to postpone the terms of the hunting calendar upon prior validation opinion of the 'Ispra (Higher Institute for Research and Environmental Protection).
The text in question, presented by the rapporteur Isidoro Gottardo (Pdl), provides in particular that "without prejudice to the provisions relating to ungulates, the Regions may postpone the terms in relation to specific species and for this purpose they are obliged to acquire the prior validation opinion of the scientific analyzes in support of the changes to be made, expressed by Ispra, after consulting the equivalent regional institutes where established and recognized by the European Commission, to which they must comply. The preventive opinion must be made within 30 days of receipt of the request ». The voted text also provides for a ban on hunting for each individual species "during the return to the nesting site, during the nesting period and the stages of reproduction and dependence of the birds".
