The Municipality of Valdagno, in the province of Vicenza, gives reason to the report made by the League for the Abolition of Hunting regarding the danger of car hunting turrets built as they are dilapidated and contrary to all safety regulations.
After reporting by the LAC, the authorities in charge of the checks were carried out on about 150 hunting terraces in the municipality of Valdagno which in recent days ordered the elimination of the first illegal turrets in Castelvecchio.
The former councilor and spokesman of the LAC, Pietro Fioraso, highlighting that the hunters also agreed on the issue of killing, said “When safety is involved, you cannot compromise”.
The turrets receiving the municipal culling provision were built for hunting migratory birds but the checks carried out revealed serious safety problems, "they are too close to a very beaten path and are in dilapidated conditions", therefore declared unusable and to be deleted.
The spokesman for the Veneto Protectionist Coordination, Renzo Rizzi, explained on the matter, “Hunting must respect the laws relating to safety. All the structures should be homologated as, for example, happens in Austria where there are prefabricated structures and a maximum of four meters high ”.
Then continues critic, Rizzi, “Here it is a jungle: there are structures as high as twenty meters, held up by hand with cables anchored to trees. As far as we know, this is the first measure of culling due to public safety problems at the national level: now we foresee a massacre for the turrets ”.
Finally concludes Rizzi, “Up to now, we have counted 150, but our work continues. As well as the controls. I also appeal to the Forestry Department to deal with it and report the danger to the competent authorities ”.
Finally, Pietro Fioraso expresses his concerns on the safety issue of illegal rooftops, “During a meeting in the Municipality, I was able to see the situation: intolerable. There is no joking about safety, especially when weapons are involved. Hunters with loaded guns operate on the turrets: if one of these should fall, there would be trouble ”.
