Hunting in Liguria: Yesterday no ruling after three hunting calendars. appeals and counter-claims: In Liguria, hunting remains a puzzle.
Another WEEK of hunting, before the umpteenth judicial "leap in the dark". Yesterday the TAR, called to decide on the appeal presented by environmentalists and animal rights activists against the hunting calendar now in force (the third since the opening of the hunting season), decided to postpone the examination on the request for suspension for seven days. A difficult decision to interpret, even if, as always happens in these cases, each of the parties in the dispute believes they have the victory in their pocket. From an operational point of view, the only real consequence of the postponement is that hunters are given the opportunity to carry out the activity at least until next Thursday.
Then the eventual acceptance of the appeal by the TAR could suspend the hunt until November 26, when the sentence of merit of the Council of State, second level of judgment, is awaited, with respect to the appeal relating to the first of the three hunting calendars that characterized to date the most schizophrenic hunting season recorded. As regards the fundamental points of the current hunting calendar, it is worth remembering that with this provisional document and under judgment, the Region has accepted the request of the judges regarding the ban on lead ammunition also for hunting ungulates, including wild boars.
The request on the number of hunting days for migratory species, which remain 5 per week as it has been since the beginning of the season, was not accepted. «As a Region - declares Councilor Renata Briano - we will continue to defend our work in all offices. What is certain is that we would have preferred that the environmental associations had had the courage to confront immediately in the contents, rather than choosing to continuously request suspensions without merit and in some cases without giving us the opportunity to defend ourselves. It would have been more correct also from an institutional point of view ».
Francesco Bruzzone, leader of the Lega, says: «I will use this time to estimate the damage caused by the previous suspension of the hunting activity. It is not a simple quantification, because the subjects who have suffered damage are many ». Daniele Granara, the environmentalists' lawyer who for years has produced the majority of the appeals (winning most of them), says: «The Region continues to do illegitimate acts, including this third provisional calendar. This is why the dissolution of the council and the regional council remains, which in our opinion is committing an offense. If from the beginning a calendar respecting the indications of Ispra had been made, there would have been no problems and the hunt would be open ». «I am optimistic and I believe that the request for further investigation by the Tarda part of the judge is correct. Better not to make predictions and enjoy this week of tranquility », concludes Luigi Tiscornia, president of Atc Levante.
