BOAR: Manual for a correct and convenient sampling is the title of the last volume published by UNCZA and URCA and written by Giuseppe Maran.
A text of almost 250 pages written by Giuseppe Maran and expertly illustrated by the artist Ettore Gambioli with more than 150 color drawings. As the Director of the Sibillini National Park Dr. Franco Perco writes in the preface, this is not a book on the biology of the wild boar but an exhaustive manual on the collection (hunting and control) of this species.
The main topics covered are: conservative management, sampling methods, dogs, killing techniques, the anatomy of the wild boar, the main concepts of ballistics, ethics, the summary of the rules governing the use of weapons. , the estimate of the age of the wild boar, the evaluation of the trophy, the main safety rules and lots of other information and suggestions for those who intend to dedicate themselves to this fascinating game.
In addition, the manual clearly illustrates:
• because the choice of the garment to be killed is fundamental in order not to deconstruct the wild boar populations;
• the way in which the shot must be exploded in order for it to be effective, does not make the game suffer unnecessary suffering and does not compromise its flesh;
• how the husk must be treated, in order to safeguard the fragrance, the organoleptic and nutritional value of the meat.
Finally, from reading these pages, full awareness emerges that hunting must increasingly be understood as a means of managing, in a conservative way, not only game but also all the remaining fauna.
