Wetland Italia celebrates the World Wetlands Day at the Torraccio swamp in Montalto di Castro in the province of Viterbo on 4 March 2012.
The Wetland Italia association, with the patronage of the Department for the Environment and Sustainable Development of the Lazio Region and the Province of Viterbo, celebrates World Wetlands Day on March 4th at the Palude del Torraccio in Montalto di Castro (VT).
World Wetlands Day commemorates the signing of the Ramsar Convention which established the importance of conserving these areas. The 2012 theme is “Wetlands and tourism” to underline the importance of the sustainable use of these areas through hunting, fishing and naturalistic hiking.
During the event hunters, naturalists and simple enthusiasts involved in the conservation and restoration of wetlands will plant Tamerice cuttings and will plant the so-called "Duck's Nest" in the wetlands-fixed stalks adhering to the initiative, artificial nests for nesting the Mallard.
