"Protect the faunal balance is a fundamental aspect of the more general task of the institutions responsible for a global management that has in the defense of a complex ecosystem, understood as protection of biodiversity and therefore of the environmental and naturalistic heritage, its main objective ". So the President of Coldiretti Rimini, Guido Cardelli Masini Palazzi, opens his reflection on theOasis of Torriana and Montebello, the subject of a wide public debate over the years, now more than ever topical.
“I would like to make a premise, the cornerstone of the numerous observations that our Association has presented over time to all interested entities, the President continues, pointing out precisely how “the Oasis is first and foremost a wildlife institute envisaged by the state law n. 157/92, established precisely to safeguard faunal peculiarities; therefore the oasis, according to the law, is neither a park nor a nature reserve and therefore the general evaluations on the management effectiveness must have as main element, precisely, that linked to the presence of fauna and related problems.
Coming, in fact, to the Oasis of Torriana and Montebello, it is evident - adds Cardelli Masini Palazzi - how the faunal imbalance that has taken place within it over the years, with the massive proliferation of wild boars, has caused damage not only to the oasis itself, but also ai neighboring territories and to the agricultural, environmental and naturalistic heritage, a situation that has rightly required in-depth studies and interventions that can be widely shared and publicly shared by the Emilia Romagna region, which, moreover, with the most recent rules of wildlife hunting planning has given further impetus to all the possible actions of wildlife planning, hunting and control of the species that can help mitigate the problem ".
"The protection of the oasis, environment rightly considered precious by all the actors and stakeholders involved - echoes the Director of Coldiretti Rimini, Anacleto Malara - can not ignore effective control and wildlife management and this is the direction of the policies, actions and global commitment of the Region which rightly, through the coordination of Councilor Mammi, aim to put a brake on rapid expansion and the increasingly widespread presence of wild boars, whose proliferation, in addition to causing serious damage to crops and therefore to the environment and the local economy, also generates increasing dangers for road traffic ". "The environmental qualification of the Oasis - concludes the Deputy Director Giorgio Ricci - cannot therefore be separated from a careful and concrete management of thefaunal balance, as so far the facts and the substance deny any presumed positivity in favor of those who work in the countryside, action that regional which is at the same time a guarantee of more general protection of the area and of the whole environmental, economic and social system that revolves around it ".
