Poaching: Bergamo, arches, bird nets, acoustic calls and traps for the illegal capture of ungulates seized by the Provincial Police; numerous complaints throughout the Bergamo area.
Over the last few days, the hunting fish Nucleus for the protection of wildlife, also following requests for intervention, has intervened and managed to seize 38 metal snap traps called “sep” in different areas of the Bergamo area; 10 snap traps called "arches"; 8 fowling nets of the trammel type; 3 trap cages for ungulates; a fence-trap, 57 specimens of birdlife protected or illegally kept and 4 electromagnetic acoustic warnings.
At Trescore Balneario in the locality of Zuclino, the agents of the Hunting Fish Nucleus discovered an activity of fowling with metal snap traps called “sep”. The perpetrator was identified reloading and repositioning the traps after extracting dead birds. 14 metal snap traps were seized, loaded and activated for the capture with this live bait (blowfly larva, called "moth") and 5 black Balie, specimens of protected avifauna whose capture, killing and detention. Similarly, in Tavernola Bergamasca in the locality of Stalle Nuove, the agents found a capture system consisting of metal snap traps "sep" loaded with live bait. Once the suspect was identified, 24 metal traps and 7 specimens of dead birdlife, including robins and great tit, were seized.
In Adrara San Rocco in the locality of Colli di San Fermo, the agents of the Hunting Fish Nucleus have identified a person who used a fowling net and seized the trammel net and 3 specimens of dead robins. Also in Grumello del Monte in the locality of Piront / Besane, six trammel nets for a total of 56 linear meters, one live robin and 17 dead protected birds were seized. In Sovere in the "Valle dei Nidi" locality, the agents of the Hunting Fish Nucleus identified a subject who used a capture system consisting of a 10 × 2 meter vertical trammel net, which was seized together with a dead frosone found at his inside, as well as 4 specimens of finches still in good condition and immediately released.
In Grumello del Monte in the locality of Via del carro, the agents of the Hunting Fish Nucleus have discovered two large iron cages-traps, partially hidden by the vegetation. The traps were activated for capture with a special snap mechanism: inside and outside corn in fine grain was scattered in order to attract and capture wild mammals. The author has been identified and at the same time admitted his responsibilities for the exercise of hunting activities in a period of general prohibition and for the use of prohibited hunting means. The 2 trap cages were therefore seized.
At Scanzorosciate in the locality of Galet - Medeghetto, the agents of the Hunting Fish Nucleus found in a wood, at the edge of the meadow, 1 large iron trap cage, partially hidden by the vegetation; inside there were captured 4 small striped wild boars still alive. The perpetrators were identified (Exercise of hunting activities in a period of general prohibition - Use of prohibited hunting means - Capture of huntable fauna in an unauthorized period) and seized the cage-trap and the 4 wild boars, which being in a position to be released, were released into the woods.
In Gandosso in the locality of Fanti / Valletta, the agents of the Hunting Fish Nucleus found, in a coppice, a large wire mesh fence of over 200 meters with 2 wild boars inside. The structure had the function of a trap with two metal doors that allowed entry but not exit. The person responsible was charged with the use of an illegal hunting vehicle and the keeping of wild boars; the trap-fence was seized, while the two boars have been released.
In Rovetta, locality Agro, and Adrara S. Martino locality Zocco, Borgo di Terzo locality Colle, Alzano Lombardo locality Monte di Nese, 4 electromagnetic acoustic signals were seized. The subjects who detained them were reported for hunting with the use of prohibited means.
Finally, in Adrara San Martino in the Costa locality, the agents of the Hunting Fish Nucleus surprised a person who was hunting without being in possession of a license. He was charged with the illegal carrying of a common firearm and the seizure of 23 specimens of dead protected avifauna, the rifle used and cartridges, as well as 10 snap traps (bows) was seized.
