POZZILLI (IS) - The anti-poaching controls put in place by the State Forestry Corps continue at a fast pace, since the 2014-2015 hunting season has now started several days ago. The men of the Venafro Forest Station Command, under the command of the Deputy Inspector Antonio De Caprio, have ascertained two hunting offenses in the countryside of the municipality of Pozzilli against unknown perpetrators.
In the locality of “Cioccaro”, inside an olive grove no longer cultivated and invaded by shrubs, two laces were found firmly tied to large olive trees. Both laces, with a slip knot, had been positioned in two points about five meters apart, right in correspondence with a habitual passage of wild animals, with the specific intent of hunting them. These capture systems are prohibited by law and are non-selective as well as particularly bloody, since the animals that remain trapped in them almost always die of suffocation, after having suffered considerable suffering. In the locality of “Maddalena”, on the other hand, lying on the ground and carefully hidden by the vegetation, an electromagnetic acoustic signal was found. The use of these trapping devices is prohibited by law because, being extremely effective in attracting animals, they excessively benefit hunters.
Forestry agents presented a specific crime report against unknown persons to the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Court of Isernia, after having removed and seized these illegal capture devices. These last episodes contribute to raising even more attention on poaching, practiced in different ways in many areas of the provincial territory, in the height of the hunting season, in an extremely delicate and sometimes conflicting moment in the relationship between man and wildlife.
In order to ensure the protection of all wildlife and prevent the repetition of episodes damaging this important environmental resource, the Provincial Command of the CFS recommends the utmost attention in the performance of the hunting activity, trusting in the correctness that characterizes the activity. of the overwhelming majority of local enthusiasts, from whom, in addition to compliance with the laws, a right collaboration is also expected to isolate the few criminals who in a wicked and dishonest way, sometimes even for profit, jeopardize not only the precious fauna heritage but even the honor of an entire category.
