Poaching: Ragusa, two men were surprised by the hunting guards while they hunted aquatic in the Pantani Reserve.
In recent days, the LIPU volunteer hunting guards surprised two men while they placed plastic molds as calls for hunting anatidae in the Bruno quagmire, in the province of Ragusa and in zone A of the Reserve; shortly after, the two began to shoot some ducks attracted by the calls and knocked them down.
Once they realized the arrival of the hunting guards, the two poachers tried to escape through the banks of the quagmire but one of them was reached and blocked after a short pursuit on foot. In the meantime, the Carabinieri of the Ispica Station Command and the agents of the Provincial Police of Ragusa arrived on the spot, alerted shortly before by the hunting guards.
The arrested person was denounced in a state of freedom to answer for poaching and sanctioned for other violations of the hunting regulations; in addition, the Police forces have taken steps to seize the rifle and ammunition found in the possession of the poacher as well as the decoy molds and the killed fauna.
