The president of the Province of Arezzo Silvia Chiassai Martini has taken charge of the numerous complaints and grievances of hunters, forced to deal with a new selection regulation at the wild boar species, and writes to the The Tuscan Regional Authority. The discontent was triggered by decree no. 7 of 16.06.2020 issued by the commissioner of ATC 1 which also reopens the question of a failed hunting management after the Delrio reform. “The Provinces, with the infamous Delrio reform, - affirms the president - have been relegated to a marginal role with respect to important issues on wildlife management.
Today we suffer the effects of those wrong choices on the territory with serious damage caused to the environment and agriculture, also severely affected by the proliferation of ungulates. The recently issued decree certainly does not contribute to the solution of the critical issues, on the contrary it feeds confusion, as well as being clearly in contrast with the provisions of the Regional Decree 625/2020 to which it refers, and with other regional regulations, as also reported in the warning addressed to the commissioner of ATC 1 by the regional manager of the hunting office.
The decree in question, among other things, prohibits the collection of wild boar from roe deer selection hunters during scheduled outings, with great concern for damage to agriculture and further exposing the risk of sometimes fatal road accidents due to the crossing of this animal species. I therefore asked the President of the Region for an urgent intervention Red that restores order, restores legal certainty in the matter and restores serenity to the hunting world which, like that of the province of Arezzo, has felt abandoned to itself for too long, since thea proxy was removed and taken by the Region. In the past Fauna Plans, the Provinces have been protagonists having a widespread knowledge of their own reality and where the Region carried out, in fact, only a coordination function between the various provincial realities. For years, after the Delrio, we have instead seen one bankruptcy management of hunting delegated by the Region to the ATCs without going into the merits of the hunting and agricultural world without knowing where, for example, the taxes paid by the hunters end up and how they are reinvested.
Paper hunting badges are used, when other easier and more practical tools would make it possible to save significant money for the benefit of a sector that must be enhanced. I think it is necessary a new territorial pact between farmers, hunters, the environmental world and institutions, aimed at achieving the balance of populations of wildlife, at containing damage to agriculture, in which the Province returns to have an active role. There are many fans who practice hunting also in our province, but a new reorganization is needed that takes into account the requests of those who practice it and the needs of the territory. - concluded Chiassai Martini "(Arezzo News).
