Christian Di Pietro, regional councilor of Molise with responsibility for hunting, he explained the commitment of the Region in the context of management of the excessive number of wild boars. In particular, theISPRA (Higher Institute for Environmental Protection and Research) received the technical report on the programmatic plan to check wild boar and roe deer in the Molise area. Furthermore, the activation of the selection hunting with selecacciatori, in order to contain mainly wild boars, a species that more than others has adapted to the area.
The emergency is of great concern, not only from a health point of view. This report is focused on areas where more damage to agriculture and road accidents have been recorded. The regional territory was also divided on the basis of the felling to be carried out, making a distinction between males, females and sub-adults. Di Pietro listed the data: these are 331 heads for what concerns the Territorial Hunting Area 1, 360 for the ATC 2, 288 for the ATC 3 and 120 for the contiguous area.
The total is about 1100 head per year. Now we await the response from ISPRA, with the hope that it will be positive and that it will allow for adoption a first containment measure, at the same time giving true answers to citizens. Finally, the director recalled the steps forward made in the context of the meat supply chain and related marketing.
